In Canada, 40 years ago, Martial Art was synonymous with violence. Fighting this erroneous concept, Mr. Takahashi established his dojo with his father in 1969. Mr. Takahashi will talk about the hard times that he experienced in the past and his passion for Martial Art.

Biography - Masao Takahashi

Mr. Masao Takahashi is president of Takahashi Dojo.  On Dec. 13th, the dojo held its 40th Anniversary celebration.  The Takahashi Dojo School of Martial Arts enjoys a reputable status as one of Canada's most successful dojos. Since 1969, it has trained competitive athletes, health-minded amateurs, and even families of former Prime Ministers. It is a family-run school, committed to providing high-level, responsible instruction that improves the mind and the body, and enhances a sense of self-discipline, self-confidence, and self-respect.

Mr. Takahashi is a Master of Judo with an 8th level Black Belt.  Mr. Takahashi is also a great teacher and coach of Martial Art.  Takahashi Dojo teaches Kendo, Iaido, Jo Do and Karate besides Judo. Mr. Takahashi is now an Olympic Official. His interest, passion and skills are shared by his family.  Mrs. June Takahashi  has a 6th level Black Belt .  His daughter, Tina,  was a World University Judo Champion and Olympic women’s coach. Two of his sons, Phil and Ray are  three time Olympians.
