To
support the victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, part of
the admission fees collected from attendees were donated to Ambassador
Ishikawa by Mr. Sam Toma, President, Canada Japan Society of Ottawa.
Ambassador Ishikawa made the opening remarks and expressed deep
appreciation to the participants for their support and solidarity for the
people of Japan. He further stated that
Japan will continue to work hard to restore normal
life to the people of Japan so that they may hold cultural events such
as sake tasking like they used to. Participants were shown pictures
related to sake, and watched detailed presentations by Mr. Sam Toma and
Mrs. Yumiko Tsunakawa, Director/ Dinner Coordinator, CJSO. They tasted
various kinds of sake and exchanged opinions about the differences in
tastes in a very relaxed atmosphere.

A
wonderful time was had by all. Members enjoyed Miso soup, Salmon
Teriyaki, Steak Teriyaki and more, and drinks flowed freely.
Star
Wolf, a former president of CJSO, made a stirring presentation on
"The Successful Japanese Export People do not think of!" The latter
turned out to be the humble Rice Cooker with members marvelling
at models passed around. Carolina
crowned an
otherwise
straight lecture, with valuable rice cooking tips covering
rice washing, measuring water manually and serving rice, pure
and unadulterated.
